With Colorado being the first state to have legalized recreational marijuana in 2012, the doors have began to open for other possible drugs. One being the psilocybin mushroom , which is commonly known as the magic mushroom or psychedelic mushroom. Magic mushrooms aren’t legal in many other 1st world countries, yet Amsterdam has shed
some light on the topic with their recreational legalization of the fungi. This has brought other nations, countries, and states to consider the possibilities with the fungi. It has shown promising health benefits for people with a wide range of mental disabilities/health issues and has also shown helpful in treating cancer patients with depression and anxiety. Although Colorado is not voting to make magic mushrooms recreational, rather they are voting to decriminalize the fungi and allow growing rights to citizens. While this may be voted and put into place on May 7, many scientists and researchers become more eager to research the drugs and their possible negative and positive effects. We still don’t know all the effects that marijuana may have on the brain over time, and we know much less than about these magic mushrooms and their capabilities. Hopefully this breakthrough in the world of mushrooms will allow for much more research and use of magic mushrooms in the US.
